千百九十六:Lunch @ Din Tai Fung

apparently this place is famous in japan for its xiao long bao as well.

Ryo was like so excited to see it here and for it to be so empty, he was pretty much over the moon. the Kyoto store has like long queues every hour of the day so there's like a very low chance of eating there so comfortably without waiting.

so we ate lunch there, went to city hall to buy games (the sims 2 for my sis) and we saw one shop selling nintendogs at 2nd hand price so he got it for me as well. hoho!

i am now rearing a yorkshire terrier. i think. training it is super mafan. -.- and we sat at coffee bean and drank stuff until we had no apetite for dinner. (T.T) so... no bday dinner this year. boohoohoo!!!

千百九十五: Zoo

we've been to the zoo, zoo, zoo, how about you, you, you..

We went to the zoo yesterday and it was fun! the last time i went was with the hall people in year 2, about 4 years ago, and that time we didn't watch the animal shows etc but this time we went to see the Wonders of the Wild show (the generic one with the monkeys and the snakes) and the Elephant show.

We took MRT to yishun then we took cab from there to the zoo, it was quite cheap only; the cab fare came up to about $6.60. for a weekday, the turnout was pretty good. not too crowded but enough people to make you feel like how come no one is visiting. i didn't realise the zoo tickets were so ex! $20 per person. ... i thought it was about $10 only. but of course, after visiting the Tennoji Zoo, i appreciate our zoo alot. if tennoji zoo is charging about $10 for their zoo, then i guess we are of cos worth at least double that.

reached there at about noon, the first show we were about to catch was at 1.30pm so we followed the trail to the parrots, the tiger trek, then the polar bear feeding time came around and the famous Inuka performed for us. (thats the singapore-born polar bear) he's 16 years old and already 450 kg. wahahaha. apparently polar bears can stand up to 35 degrees celsius in the wild so why are the activists complaining? if the polar bears are going to be in any zoo, i would rather they be in the s'pore zoo cos even if the climate is better, i dun think they will be so well taken care of in any other zoo in the world. he looks very happy here when i saw him yesterday anyway. humph.

the wonders of the wild show, it was so-so. the african tribal act thing, was kinda boring. i wanted to see the animals, not him blowing darts. i thought ah meng used to perform or something also. maybe she got old liao.. and they also put snakes in the crowd! in backpacks on the ground, then the compere came around and was like pointed to this knapsack which was there earlier liao and asked the guy sitting next to it like is it yours and no? and opened it up to reveal a python. argh. maybe instead of using bombs, terrorists put a snake or wat in backpacks, can create enough of a scare liao.

the elephant show was good! the compere was funny and the elephants were very cooperative. well done trainers!

had a late lunch at zoo cafe. expensive.. we opted for curry chicken and rice. and we watched the guy scoop up a drumstick and a piece of chicken meat and his colleague, right in front of us, whispered very loudly " what are u doing! too much too much! put back! " and he scooped the drumstick out of the bowl into the soup again. -.- for $7, 2 pieces of chicken in that small bowl of curry is too much?? i don't think so. if not, dun even show us u scoop it it liao then take out. what kind of service is that?? abit buay song bout that.

we left after visiting the zebras, and giraffes and the lions. the male lion was asleep the whole day. bleahz. the children's world also very quiet and deserted. and i couldn't see any horses around.

but anyway, we left at about 5 pm, b4 the commuter crowd starts on the trains.

went to watch starlight cinema in the evening, it was only so-so an experience. personally, i am disappointed at the organisation of the event. very poorly carried out. there was a cordoned off space, which was probably non-seating area in the first place, but when we reached, the ushers said can sit, dun smoke its ok. so every one sat down comfortably, had dinner etc. after bout 30 min, the show was supposed to start but didn't, and the idiotic organisers came about and said to the people behind us (we were like 2nd row into the cordoned area) "sorry, you have to move, you are actually not allowed to sit here" blah blah blah. some people was mad of cos, movie going to start liao then do such things. some just refused to move. and it was like.. selective>? they were biased and picked on couples, some groups had more than 3 people in the same row etc, they didnt ask them to move. luckily they didnt get to us to even ask if we could move or i would have pounded them. and ryo was in bad enuff a mood liao. b4 that, a dumb cab, gave us wrong directions to padang, and drove barely 200 meters and charged us $5.50! WTH!? he took us from raffles city, went the wrong way, said cannot turn, and dropped us at outside peninsula plaza. and we had to walk from there all the way to Padang. DUH. very mad at him, but we were running late and i didnt have time to argue so i just gave him the money and ryo was mad we still had to walk after paying so much. argh. but luckily he got ok when the movie started. -.-

had supper just at the coffeeshop next to the hotel, it was pretty good. and shiok lor, just walk down so convenient. if live in town, i also dont think i need a car liaoz. can walk anywhere, sure healthy oso.

after that we went back and just watched jap dramas until 3am. haha. must watch this series 古畑 something detective series. i think xq mentioned the murder mystery special is under this series oso, the SMAP one entitled presento. old show. but his logic amazes me.

today .. happy birthday to me! no plans yet though, will put up pictures of the zoo soon also. (my flickr acct just expired, will renew next month i think) thank you to all who sent wishes as well :)

千百九十四:the walk to suntec

he's here!! *jumps around in ecstasy*

i went to fetch him in the evening from the airport after working half day at the office and a bath at home. i didn't know what to pack, cos i don't even noe wat our plans are for the week. depends on him right?

so luckily i went to the airport a little bit early cos the plane came ahead of schedule. waited waited waited, was surprised to see alot of blangahs waiting for their compatriot on this same flight from osaka. ?? weird no? so when the passengers started trickling down (pretty empty flight), i was expecting many banglas. but i nv see lei.. hmm . i saw them wave at someone, i look in the direction, i couldn't see who they were waving to, cos no one waved back.

and finally, he came down at about 1915. nono, don't have dramatic hug and kiss.. we just smiled at each other and he just asked me if i was genki. :) couldn't stop smiling. and there was actually airport shuttle service (like Limo bus) but in taxi format, $7 per adult. very worth it, no need to take taxi with high costs if got alot of luggage. and it takes u to ur destination somemore like the cab, not bad right! but of cos have to share with people, thats how they make the whole thing worth it.

so we reached the hotel with much time to spare b4 the shops close. the hotel room is quite big, but the amenities are so-so only. decided to walk to suntec when i saw how near it was, was actually planning to bring him to eat dinner at raffles city.

i couldn't find the foodcourt in suntec!! walked like one big round, forgot they moved the damn entrance to the inside, and in the end we chose crystal jade la mian xiao long bao. hehe. had a good meal, i couldn't stop talking. the waiter said sumimasen to me until i ordered a drink in chinese hehe. after that went carrefour abit and then it was like 11pm liao. its really shiok to live so near to town lor! can club at chijmes and then drunk liao walk back oso. wahaha!

ok maybe we are going chinatown today. hoho. seeya!

千百九十二: Steamboat

we haven't had dinner as a whole family outside for a long long time. but today, after walking around marina square and my mom saw all the scary prices of the steamboat buffets in the mall, all above $20 per person, she was like, "So expensive!" and marina south steamboat prices in comparison made her agree to having dinner there. haha.

so we headed there.. at about 8pm, the place was already full. and i had forgotten how we were supposed to pay and all so we were just all looking around blindly for the aunties that were supposed to assign us a table. dunno where they all disappeared to, i saw another table of people also wandering around blindly looking for somewhere to pay to. hehe.but we finally found the elusive auntie and got a seat. the problem with eating outside with my mom, is that she complains alot about everything. about how the food is not as fresh as when she cooks (definitely) and how she can cook stuff cheaper and all and variety no good blah blah. i can't stand that. i mean we are already there, u of cos can't expect things outside to be better than home right? so just relax, enjoy ur time there, stop thinking negative thoughts and affecting other people too! ... but all in all, i enjoyed eating all the stuff she usually won't cook anyway, like bbQ meat and the shellfish species. but i totally can predict a stomachache tomorrow.

marina square is sooo crowded. i saw alot of familiar faces from hall today. surprisingly. some people who ignored me and i ignored them, one who said hi when i waved. but thats all. ah well. and i am looking forward to this monday evening. aLOT!

千百九十一:Chances

how do employers deem that they know you by just reading through your resume? they decide to see you or not for an interview based on ur degree and your grades. even though i have work experience stated, it is not enough obviously. as long as it is not engineering, anything regarding specialised knowledge, who can't learn? did they used to not learn on the job? just go in as an expert when they were fresh grads also? job hires should be based on whether you learn fast and you learn well, not on your dumb results. anyone with a degree has already proved that we have survived the higher education process, the grades only reflect how well u deal with examinations. argh.

千百九十:Bad Day

today was one of those days that you feel that the whole world is against you. woke up to almost all grumpy faces in the family, got screamed at in the office for something non-work related, i decided to just retreat in my shell. they can show faces i also can. sick of being the anger venting tool for everyone. my advice to future parents is, dun keep putting down your kids and blaming them for everything wrong in your life. they remember the hurt of being accused and alleged for things they didn't even do for life. yes. FOR LIFE. every single bad word, every time that black face is shown, they remember. outwardly, they might have grown up and stopped flinching when you push blame at them wrongly, but inside of them, it is another cut on the already scarred badly heart. we are not allowed to choose our parents, but we have tolerated any irrational behaviour, any tyrant-like behaviour because we are still trying to love u as u are already old and you probably think u are always wiser than us anyway, even when you are wrong. but why do u make it so difficult for us to do that?

i think helping them in the office thing is not working out. they pick on me too much, when they are tired with their work especially.

千百八十九:Forbidden City

by luck, my sister managed to land herself with a free pair of Forbidden City tix and we went to see the musical today. it was marvellous! thank u for bringing me!! even though u were a little grumpy after that, but the show was .. touching.. i guess. i am not sure if it is based on fact or some parts are fiction but it did what it was supposed to. learnt alot about the life of the Empress in this one night than in all my chinese culture lessons in school. Kit Chan has a really wonderful voice. but i think the caucasians in the show outshone most of the other cast members. during the choruses, the cast couldn't be heard clearly and i was relying alot on the subtitles. think they are probably tired out from doing 2 shows everyday..

it was very embarrassing when a delivery man came into the office this afternoon and i was singing very loudly with my ipod and i didnt notice him. (#-.-#) he gave me quite a start when i looked up and suddenly there he was. maybe he was snickering. humph.

千百八十八:Chance Encounters

today had a chance encounter when i alighted from the MRT at 11.30pm at Jurong East MRT station. i met someone who i totally didn't expect to meet, after 7 years. imagine if i hadn't decided to take the stairs instead of the lift, if i had taken the escalator instead, i would never have seen her. how coincidental! i met SS from sec sch. she still hadn't changed one bit, very blur and very cute. i gave her my number but was afraid she would miss the departing train, told her to just msg me later with her number. i hope she remembers. what are the chances?!

today was the last japanese lesson. next week onwards, it's going to be JLPT prep classes. argh. no more Naomi sensei. she is very cute, esp when she does imitations. today she did one of the shampoo ad of the former Organics brand (whats the name now?) and how the girl was trying to straighten her hair at the party. it was hilarious!! haiz. will miss her.

千百八十七:slave driver

bleahz. even though i had a fever, my mom woke me up at 6.30am to make me go to work. i was quite angry, cos i was still feverish and giddy. and i just dozed my way to work, and also at work until about 9am? we reached there about 7.30am, which was too early. the medication i'm on all caused drowsiness, so its not really my fault!!

maybe medicine also caused irritation and a short temper. i was very irritated the whole day, irritated by my parents quarrelling loudly in the morning in the office, irritated that there were constant phone calls, and irritated at myself for making careless mistakes. i was also irritated at the fact that i had to go to work despite having a fever. grr.

the today papers has almost the same news everyday nowadays. (haha) i keep reading bout the NTU lecturer case, which i feel is super duh, and even such people, such people with such morals and such desperation, such people who had to resort to getting a married woman (from china, no less) to live with him for money, i would say he is a big loser. and that the employers are very poor judgement of characters. and i am so sick of that news, can they find some real news?? of cos there is coverage of the IMF/World Bank meeting, but all they go on about it in the papers is the CSO vs the SG govt spate. now it has become CSO vs SG Govt and CSO vs Paul WXXX. cant spell his name. today's letter (in Today paper) from the public made the best case. the person mentioned something to the effect of IMF should have known sg is a strict country legally b4 deciding to hold the meeting here. just cos they cant allow demonstrations, means our reputation will go down?? ask any delegate, i am sure after a long day in the meeting, he wants to come out for some shopping, the last thing he wants to hear or see is people demonstrating and he can't leave his hotel room because of fear of being attacked. or him being worried sick about his wife on tour in sg while he is in the meetings, whether she would be safe or not. better for them to go into the indoor venue and look silly but at least their messages can be heard properly in a civilised manner through dialogues. oh yah. back to the main point. some new news please!!

千百八十六:Fever!

got fever and the flu.

oh i watched Gigolo Wannabe on Sunday. apparently its been in Japan since 2005 yet only shown now in sg? sighz. was so-so. funny at times but the twist at the end was quite infuriating. wasnt the comedy / host-club scenes i had envisioned but very melodramatic at times. and no cute guys. -.- ah well.

yesterday also stepped into Long John's for the first time in 6-7 years. i have detested stepping into a Long John's outlet ever since a piece of their shrimp hurt my throat and choked me. but yesterday, went in and i ate the shrimp and cheese fries (cos caleb wanted to eat his lunch there) and it turned out to be quite delicious! phew. and it rained again in the afternoon. which was almost like an exact replay of wat happend last sunday. i was wearing the same pair of sandals except this time i had an umbrella. hoho.

ah. the medicine is making drowsy. nitez.

千百八十五:Bye bye birdie

and so we all headed down to Changi Airport Terminal 2 last night.

there were so many people to send him off! a little surprised but i guess it was expected. small groups of people from all his diff parts of life (church, army, jc, cca, family) all add up to a big group. i was the official photog, and i helped take his departure pics with his friends and family before he flew. the Nikon slr was heavy & i cant really tell wats the diff in quality until its on paper i suppose.

is there anyone who can wake up at 5pm (having slept at 2am the night before) and then go back to sleep at midnite again? isnt that like a little too much!? (and kind of a pig) i'm quite disgusted actually to hear of that.

千百八十四:C's departure

today C will be leaving us to go to the land of the furry hats and quirky manners. I wish him all the best and i want to tell him as my sister's big sister: "You better not make my sister heartbroken hor!!" or else in the words of Phoebe from Friends "I'll hunt you down and kick your ass!!" ^^ hehe. anyway, good luck and do us proud next time!

i saw my former tutor in Her World Brides this month and i was very very very surprised. lost touch with him after O levels, am very happy to see him get featured for a beautiful wedding (the Fullerton one) and that he is doing so well now. his wife is very very pretty lor! (^-^) dunno how to say, just feel very happy for him. hope he also continues to do very well.

finally saturday again but no appts today, have to stay in and clear the homework. ack.

千百八十三:ブログの価値はいくらですか?

My blog is worth $6,774.48.
How much is your blog worth?

hmm.. not bad i guess. :) higher than avg but of cos cannot compare to the famous singaporean blogs

today's rain was a downer. and it was sooooo heavy. i got drenched in the process of going from the pavement to the cab, just that 2metres. and at the mrt platform, people resorted to standing in a line in the middle of the platform, cos the rain was being blown in from both sides of the tracks and getting us all wet. hehe. was quite a funny sight.

千百八十二:つづく・・・

oh yah, the day b4 yesterday.

the utensils-stomplike performance after the stickman show was good too! surprised they made such good music from pots and pans. and i was afraid they would upset the boiling pots. and hurt themselves. yup.. so all in all, the performances were not bad.

yesterday.. had japanese lessons and a tummy ache. it was just an ache on the side and i thought sleeping it off would work. it didn't and woke up with a sore throat plus an even worse ache. dunno wat hit me, felt giddy and was barely walking straight. argh. got better towards the evening, but getting quite giddy again. will have to sleep early tonight. :x

next week is the last lesson for this term le. should i sign up for the next term?

千百八十一:(=^-^=)

yesterday.

went to see my sister's performance at SMU. the comedy performances before that were.. lame. especially the stand up comedy. he was totally not funny! lame jokes and me & calvin were discussing if we should throw stuff at him to get him off the stage 5 min into the performance. and the comic sketches were disgusting. it was a cultural thing that was published in the papers, why did they have to resort to talking about sausages the whole evening? and there were babies there too! what would visitors think? quite disgusted actually. but my sis' performance was very interesting. them maneuvering a stickman around.

sianz. no mood to type le. another time then continue.

千百八十: mood-.-

today got into a argument over the fone with someone who is afraid for his 頸 .

i was in no wrong, considering i am the victim, but yes, i do apologise for not apologising. but the gist of it pissed me off because the person said it until he had been very helpful and my well-being was his first and foremost concern these past 2 months when it was obviously not (or from wat we all can see) . wat is not shown, i will not know. i apologise if my actions cause your job to be in jeopardy but please put yourself in the shoes of someone who has been jobless. with only money going out and nothing coming in. who wouldn't feel a little bit angry even? talk to the man on the street who has been retrenched and has yet to find a job. will he sound like he has an attitude problem? i am sure he will. thank you for the continuous effort (if it was true) and i hope this week works out.

no .. not relationship problems. counting down to the end of this month for some happy times. first person i wanted to call was him but he was still at work so had to complain to another trainee and wish him happy birthday. hehe. in 2 minds about what i want. the call came at the right time and i do wish that there was no argument today. else it would have been good news. lets see what happens this thursday.

going to watch Sketches of the Stickmen Cooking tomorrow. must remember to borrow popular card also.

i think i am the emotional type who gets affected by fights and arguments and by what i see easily. scenes that affect me, that i see, get replayed in my head over and over like a movie. -.- つらい~・i sometimes wish my memory was less photographic. some of the things i would like to forget, some names, some memories, some stuff, i am beginning to forget. i am thankful for that.

千百七十九: 倾盆大雨

met ZZ , YY, and BC for lunch today. SL couldn't come because he was having LS, JM's fridge spoilt so she had to do some emergency fridge shopping. :x hehe.

its the type of friendship that you meet once in years yet the camaraderie is still there. had a long 2 hour lunch at paragon, zz's treat (thank you!!!) and we had a gd chat about all that has happened in the time that has passed. some one is pregnant, (congratS!) and we got dibs for future tuition jobs with pretty high pay that someone will pass to us because someone is going overseas. someone else had an operation but I'm glad its a minor one. and the wound seems to be healing nicely. the last someone is still full of his cold jokes and weird logic but added alot of laughter to our conversations. friends talking crap over lunch, despite the time that has lapsed. i wonder how many more times i will be able to do that still.

after lunch, we walked around taka together, and it so happened that almost all of us had one thing each we had to buy from taka. my legs were tired out but i guess this is one day despite the downpour and me getting caught in the rain, i didn't feel the least bit cold, cos of the warmth in my heart.

千百七十八:dblO

first time i chionged in dbl o in years. felt out of place there, maybe cos i was with a unfamiliar group. and the fren who brought me there, so many other girls were fighting for his attention. -.- abit sianz half, and he started making out with his fren (girl) -.- while my arm was supporting his one arm. and left me dunno where to look or wat to do cos at that time he was really drunk. yuck. but i didnT get drunk today, just abit sleepy, but glad i got to know some new friends. and as usual, come home to mom waiting up, damn off, kena scolding again.

i chiong like once in a blue moon, wat'S wrong?!

oh and watched Monster House today. i would say the trailer made the movie more interesting than it really is. it was funny, but not like very very very funny. i felt abit bored with the dialogue at many times.

couldn't help but think of him when i see other couples on the dancefloor while i was feeling a little lost, didnT have the enthusiasm or energy to dance. i dun wan to do anithing i will regret, i dun wan to get too close to other guys, hence the chionging was a limited booze, limited dancing, limited contact with other people affair.

canT really stand the night scene anymore, must be getting old. i get tired easily oso. yikes.

千百七十七: 鱼片米粉

i've been eating 鱼片米粉 alot lately. for lunch.

Dad will always ask what we wanna eat before he buys lunch back to the office and i think of so many food like chicken rice, char kway teow etc but i always end up choosing 鱼片米粉. chicken rice is too filling and i become really drowsy after lunch. and you know chicken rice leaves a really oily aftertaste? the sesame oil i think, of the rice. so... not good to eat that when you have no soft drink to wash the oil down. :p yah .. basically the same with all oily food. i realise i dont like fried, grilled or oily stuff much. and also fast food. they smell great, especially when you're hungry, but after one or 2 mouthfuls, either my gums are cut by the fried food edges or i can feel the start of a sore throat. ack. so i been just choosing 鱼片米粉, with non-fried fish slices, and alot of the chilli slices poured into my soup. very delicious!

and the light (lack of oil?) meals are showing their effects. in the form of good skin! it's true! but then.. i havent been using cosmetics lately oso, cos only been going to the office, wear specs, wear lokkok oso can, nobody to see. although its kinda embarrassing when the occasional deliveryman comes in.

today was the first day i had no time to read my own book in the office. usually, i would be like looking at my own stuff from 3pm onwards, but today, i had work continually coming at me, and had not much time to even think about anything else except that today was finally friday. hooray for friday!

千百七十六: radiowaves of happiness

i heard a guy win $850 on radio today. i hope everyone who heard it enjoyed the enthusiasm and the happiness that spread out from the radio bandwaves.

千百七十五:Lucky Number SLeven

Lucky Number SLeven:

this is a very interesting movie. VERY!

abit like ocean's eleven, the whole movie's plot will leave you with a awed feeling after u find out the full story. Bruce Willis once again proves to be a a great actor in a action movie, as very cool and coldblooded assasin. and Josh Hartnett's bod walking around in a towel for the first 20 min of the movie will make all the girls in the theatre very happy! hoho.. i was hoping and hoping for his towel to fall off. hehehe.. and .. i didn't realise Lucy Liu was so short. or else Josh Hartnett is very tall. hmm .

yah .. and the lesson was fulfilling today. felt that i got show some results and at least didn't make a fool of myself last time by being prepared for the speech making this time. :p not hundred percent mistake free of course, but at least good enough to show i am able to say something interesting in time of need. and i must say a big thank you to the teacher who really typed out the sample sentences and meaning to the vocab list. お疲れ様でした!!!

千百七十四:life's coincidences

don't you just hate it when

- no faxes come the whole day but the moment you dialup to the internet with the fax line, some one calls in and say "how come ur fax line always busy one?!" #$%&
- the bus you wan to take always takes ages to come but will be the first bus that comes when you are not waiting for it?
- your phone chooses not to ring the whole day except when you go for a bath?

reminds me of the MAD magazine.

they used to have such sections in the book. and they would have the black spy vs the white spy irony issues.

おもしろかった~

seems like its been very very long ago when i read those things for the first time. my cousin used to throw away her books and us being bookworms would just be her book dumping ground. and we found such gems in the process. :)

千百七十三:あすなろ白書

i just finished watching the very old drama あすなろ白書。(Asunaro Hakusho) it stars of course, Kimura Takuya (^-^) but he is actually not the major major character, cos this was at the start of his popularity.

the show was filmed in 1993 so everyone still has that big hair and weird big shoulder pads and oversized coats was in fashion but the story is surprisingly liberal. there is even this gay element. and everyone fell in love with the one guy except kimura takuya who was fighting with him for the same girl. argh. unfortunately, geeky kimura in this show lost. :(

千百七十二:Limit of Love 海猿

this movie's great!!!

just watched Umizaru 2 with Jac, its.. sooooo exciting!! got the feeling of watching titanic all over again but with divers rescuing them, with the coast guard putting in their best effort, and the best thing is that its a day time disaster so that everything can be seen clearly, the movie was pretty touching at the end. the director just keeps giving you hope for a happy ending and the comedy elements of the show are pretty well-done too. go watch this weekend, cos the show is ending!!

千百七十一: 検事

検事:prosecutor : ken-ji

i've finished watching hero and kimura takuya is hot! especially his cheeky smile whenever he speaks. the courtroom drama episode was a refreshing change, but actually he is cooler doing the piecing the story and proving the innocence before deciding on the lawsuit against the criminal.

i had a dream about takeshi sorimachi and me having a meal. it was very sweet and dreamy and we were happily smiling at each other and .... i woke up. yikes. oh well. dreams don't last forever.
